The random drawing generator builds a drawing idea from five separate parts: a subject, what it’s doing, where it is, an art style and a mood. Press Randomize to roll everything, then lock the parts you love and keep re-rolling the rest until the idea clicks.

How the random drawing generator works
Instead of handing you one fixed sentence, this tool works like a slot machine for artists. Each card is filled from its own list:
- Subject – hundreds of animals, people, fantasy creatures, objects, places, foods and vehicles, each with a describing word (“a rusty robot knight”, “a shy axolotl”).
- Doing – an action that gives your drawing a story, like baking bread or hiding from a storm.
- Where – a setting, from inside a teacup to on a crowded train.
- Style – an art style to try, such as manga, linocut print, pixel art or storybook illustration.
- Mood – the feeling you want the viewer to get: cozy, eerie, nostalgic, chaotic.
The sentence under the cards updates every time, so you can copy the full prompt with one click.
Why locking makes better prompts
Purely random ideas are fun, but sometimes you get a subject you love paired with a place that doesn’t inspire you. Locking fixes that. A few ways artists use it:
- Practice one subject in many places. Lock “a sleepy capybara” and re-roll the setting ten times for a whole sketchbook page of variations.
- Explore styles. Lock subject, action and setting, then re-roll only the style to see your idea as manga, pop art and watercolor.
- Set the mood for a series. Lock the mood to eerie and build a spooky collection for October.
Ideas for using random drawing results
Speed rounds. Give yourself five minutes per result and do six in a row. You’ll be surprised how loose and confident your lines become.
Story panels. Generate three results, lock the subject, and draw them as a three-panel comic. The random actions and places become the plot.
Draw with friends. Everyone draws the same random result, then compares. No two interpretations ever look alike.

Frequently asked questions
How is this different from the drawing prompt generator?
The main drawing prompt generator creates a whole prompt at once. The random drawing generator splits the prompt into five parts – subject, action, place, style and mood – so you can lock what you like and only re-roll the rest.
Can I re-roll just one part?
Yes. Every card has its own re-roll button. Press it to change only that part of the idea without touching the others.
Is the random drawing generator good for beginners?
Yes. If a result feels too complicated, lock a simple subject and re-roll the style to something easy like cartoon or sticker style. You decide how hard the final drawing is.
Do I need to follow the style exactly?
No. Treat the style as a suggestion. Many artists keep the subject and setting and simply draw in their own style.
